Matthias Derenbach
“I love to tell stories and fairy tales”
Matthias Derenbach is a freelance illustrator based in Cologne, Germany. Matthias started painting at the age of three to later study communication design and illustration, graduating top of his class.
“After starting painting at the age of three, I simply couldn’t stop anymore.”
In 2009 Matthias founded the “Topoli” publishing house in which he published his own children’s book series “Frieda”. Today he mostly does commercial works, logo designs and illustrations for children’s books.
When it comes to art, Matthias finds great inspiration in the works of Hayao Miyazaki, Moebius and Sven Nordquist.
